Craigslist (styled craigslist) is a classified advertisements website with sections devoted to jobs, housing, personals, for sale, items wanted, services, community, gigs, resumes, and discussion forums.

Craig Newmark began the service in 1995 as an email distribution list to friends, featuring local events in the San Francisco Bay Area, before becoming a web-based service in 1996 and expanding into other classified categories. It started expanding to other U.S. cities in 2000, and currently covers 50 countries.

In March 2008, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Portuguese became the first non-English languages supported. As of August 9, 2012, over 700 "cities" in 70 countries have Craigslist sites. Some Craigslist sites cover large regions instead of individual metropolitan areas - for example, the U.S. states of Delaware and Wyoming, the Colorado Western Slope, the California Gold Country, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan are among the locations with their own Craigslist sites.

Craigslist is a great place to find any number of goods, services, etc. You definitely need to be careful, particularly when meeting up with people, since it can be unsafe. Just exercise common sense and take safety precautions. There's a great variety of things to be had on Craigslist. It's a great resource for finding apartments in particular and other things that you can't really find anywhere else in the web. It is kind of an eyesore, and I think it needs more specific search result options and more location options. It only lists a few major cities in each state, passing over a lot of places that are still noteworthy even if slightly smaller. The search results could definitely be improved upon - they don't really allow you to search for things in specific locations that are close enough to you, and since so many people try to be slick and set the price at something different than what they're really asking to get people to click on their ad, a lot of the time filtering by price is useless. I guess a lot of that fault falls on the userbase and not the site itself, however. Decent site, but I really only use as a last resort if I can't find what I need elsewhere, and I don't trust it that much at all.

Need a thing? Craigslist.

Be rid of a thing? Craigslist.

Need love? Craigslist.

Need sex? Craigslist.

Missed an opportunity? Craigslist.

Craigslist is the answer to almost everything. It ain't pretty but that's part of it's charm.

I have SUCH mixed feelings about Craigslist. First of all, it has become a bit unsafe. I can't really blame craigslist for this; It's the fault of the current generation of people living in the world today. However, the concept of meeting up with a complete stranger to buy/exchange items is shady to me.

I have done it, and have gotten stood up or scammed quite a few times. Only a few weeks ago I drove an hour out of my way to meet someone who wanted to buy an item for me, and she never showed up. It's a pain.

Numerous people have gotten scammed out of job opportunities on there. Not to mention the few killings that have taken place.

I do, however, LOVE the concept and the site is extremely easy to use. I found my apartment on there, along with numerous other things.

Just like anything else, you have to use your own discretion when you use sites like this.

One of the easiest and widely used website to use to buy and sell products. You can get anything from a toy to your romantic partners. However, I would be careful for the latter one. But for people who are into it, the list provides lots of people for the purpose. Also, you can really get some good deals and bargains on things like books, cds, dvds, furniture etc. However, just be careful not to send money to someone without actually looking at the items first or be extra careful when dealing with strangers.

Strange decision to use Comic Sans as the font for the titles of the website headings.

I could not find a way to navigate away from the homepage to any deeper links with more information. One would expect that the left skyscraper section would be hotlinked to more examples.

A heavily biased so-called "news" resource - HuffPo is hypocritical in nearly every possible aspect. It claims to be strongly for diversity, and yet it practices no diversity of thought whatso...
