Founded in March 2009 and still run by a dedicated team of indentured masochists, Autostraddle is an intelligent, hilarious & provocative voice and a progressively feminist online community for a new generation of kickass lesbian, bisexual & otherwise inclined ladies (and their friends).

Autostraddle is a serious labor of love -- a personal dream that one day became a start-up and then somehow became the world's most popular independently-owned lesbian website with over 400,000 unique visitors and 2 million views per month. We sport a healthy online community (Autostraddle Social), sell merch, host events, and just launched our first of what will hopefully be many "A-Camps."

The idea is to change the world.

Autostraddle is an online community aimed as lesbian, bisexual or feminist readers. It’s currently the most popular lesbian-oriented site in the world with over 3.5 million views per month.

The site offers daily articles including news relating to the LGBT community, celebrity interviews, magazine-style articles, recipes, playlists, book, music or TV reviews, lists, advice, trends, relationships and sex.

It’s one of those sites I’ll often open when I’m bored at my PC to peruse their latest articles. There’s always something new of interest and I’ve continuously found their content to be innovative and positively portrayed.

On a personal level, back when I first ‘came out’ and met my first girlfriend, the advice columns on AS proved invaluable. As a result, I've grown to trust and enjoy the site and can’t see that changing any time soon. I'm addicted.

AS is clearly laid out and it’s easy to find the topics you’re looking for. I can see why it’s so popular and completely recommend it to those interested in popular culture within the lesbian community.

1) Does what its supposed to do. A quick overview and source/links to the biggest things happening that day in respective categories.
2) Ability to change themes or colour would be nice but other than that, just a regular minimalistic design.
3)Easy as point and click

Such a fantastic podcast!
Duncan has a knack for narrative history, taking all the disparate stories and facts and weaving it all together into a story that's fun and engaging.
It's also very well researched.
Would highly recommend to anyone with an interest in history.

I think the site looks dull now. I hope it evolves into more modern design. And also consider user experience.

I heartily agree with the reviews on this podcast series left so far by other listeners. I've not yet listened to Mike Duncan's History of Rome podcast (though I'm now inspired to do so), but the History of Byzantium podcast is a tour de force from Robin. He has done a sterling and balanced job...

I have found the History of English podcast absolutely riveting; in fact, I 'binged- listened' my way through the first 100 or so episodes, and am very relieved that there are clearly many more to come :-). History via etymology - a great concept, well-delivered by Kevin. Highly recommended.
