Comedy , News

The Onion is an American digital media company and news satire organization. It runs an entertainment website featuring satirical articles reporting on international, national, and local news, in addition to a non-satirical entertainment section known as The A.V. Club, and a creative services division called Onion Labs. It says 90 percent of its web site readers are between 18 and 44 years old. Since 2007, the organization has published satirical news audio and video online, as the "Onion News Network".[4] Web traffic on theonion.com amounts to an average of 11 million unique visitors per month.

The Onion's articles comment on current events, both real and fictional. It parodies traditional news websites with stories, editorials, op-ed pieces, and man-in-the-street interviews, using a traditional news website layout and an editorial voice modeled after that of the Associated Press. Its humor often depends on presenting mundane, everyday events as newsworthy, surreal or alarming ("Wedding DJ Assures Anxious Man He Hasn't Forgotten Build Me Up Buttercup Request") or parodying the media's portrayal of news ("Poll: 56% Of Voters Say Country Better Off Than It Was 4 Eons Ago").

I've completely lost all respect for this news source since the Taylor Swift/Christopher Dorner coverage. It is revolting. I. AM. REVOLTED. You know if I lost my husband, who (may or may not be) a cop BY THE WAY, I would be devastated especially if he was a shining example of a motivated, community centric officer. And honestly, it doesn't matter if you have had one love or a metric ton of love or a billion gazillion loves or a smidgen of love, or one single Benedict Cumberbatch love (the best love(er)), you should never make fun of someone who has lost a love. It breaks my heart that she lost him right before Valentine's Day. Literally, that is THE day to celebrate love. You celebrate it on the street corners and dressed in pink (of course). I'm so disappointed in The Onion for attempting to destroy Mz Swift's reputation.

I WILL NEVER READ YOU AGAIN! My Dad says you are a bunch of "red bastard commies" so it's no wonder I think you're worthless.

In other words, I love you and I love that people fall for your hilarious BS over and over again. Job well done!

The greatest news troll website on the internet.

Tired of someone blathering on unintelligibly about the way things work in the world? Direct them to an article of your choosing and watch them foam at the mouth. Conservative or liberal, The Onion has enough satirical ammo to satisfy your needs.

Always entertaining and sharp as a tack, The Onion would have make Mark Twain proud.

Ah, The Onion. Could there be a more glorious fake news site? They're commitment to keeping their world news stories feasible is what makes this site hilarious. Love this site.

My boyfriend really likes sports, so I read an article about Donald Sterling to try and talk about things he likes with him. So we go to dinner, and I casually slip in "so I read they retired Donald Sterling's jersey today."

Turns out he's not a basketball player.

Thanks, The Onion, for ruining my relationship. Go fuck yourself.

Training was very good. It helped me to configure all the SAP MDG components.
The trainer has excellent knowledge and I am glad that I was a part of this training program.

I started reading Ars Technica after leaving LifeHacker as I wasn't a fan of the re-design. I still find myself back every now and then, but Ars is one of my daily check-ups.

One of Ars' strengths is the seriously in-depth articles and reviews. The ridiculious but fascinating 40,00...

I think the site looks dull now. I hope it evolves into more modern design. And also consider user experience.

I heartily agree with the reviews on this podcast series left so far by other listeners. I've not yet listened to Mike Duncan's History of Rome podcast (though I'm now inspired to do so), but the History of Byzantium podcast is a tour de force from Robin. He has done a sterling and balanced job...

I have found the History of English podcast absolutely riveting; in fact, I 'binged- listened' my way through the first 100 or so episodes, and am very relieved that there are clearly many more to come :-). History via etymology - a great concept, well-delivered by Kevin. Highly recommended.

It's so amazing that we have the opportunity to listen to so many years of history is such a fine detail. It's a marvel of the modern world. Thanks for doing this, Robin!
