About.com is an Internet-based network of content, providing articles and videos about various topics. The site, visited each month by approximately 90 million users, competes with other online resource sites and encyclopedias such as Wikipedia.

About.com was acquired by New York Times in February 2005, which later announced plans to sell the site to IAC, owners of Ask.com and the Reference.com network, for $300 million.

About.com lives up to its name, telling you about absolutely anything you’re looking for. Upon visiting the homepage, you’ll be faced with trending articles, ranging from lifestyle to finance to fashion, plus neatly categorised sections offering tips on the home, food, health, style, money, careers, technology, education and travel, so it’s likely there’s something you’re interested in reading about.

The articles are written by a vast range of contributors, all knowledgeable in their respective fields, allowing them to publish the best advice and information that’ll help you expand your understanding of a particular topic.
The articles range from serious and cutting-edge to fun and playful, offering something for every mood, and you may find yourself stumbling across articles you never knew you needed, for example “6 Holiday Hazards to Watch Out For”. Who knew a Christmas Tree could be so perilous?

About.com often appears in Google searches while looking for recipes or how-to articles, proving its popularity. It's well laid out and in my experience, it's been easy to find relevant information, whether I'm browsing a general topic or searching for specific advice.

I’d recommend the site completely, as it’s a great, free source of information.

Strange decision to use Comic Sans as the font for the titles of the website headings.

I could not find a way to navigate away from the homepage to any deeper links with more information. One would expect that the left skyscraper section would be hotlinked to more examples.

One of the very few politics sites on the internet that is truly unbiased and is not pushing neither a right or a left-wing agenda.

It is a fantastic compendium, compiled twice daily - once in the morning and once in the afternoon - of all the news that is worth reading - in a read...

BuzzFeed

Born as a clickbait, arbitrage website completely devoid of any substance or content - it somehow took that concept and made it worse.

Buzzfeed is known as the laughingstock of the internet, for its truly vile cesspool of social justice warriors, for its overly dramatic authoritari...

A heavily biased so-called "news" resource - HuffPo is hypocritical in nearly every possible aspect. It preaches equality and diversity, and yet it's boardroom is nearly completely composed of white women. It claims to be strongly for diversity, and yet it practices no diversity of thought whatso...
