Pinterest is a visual discovery tool that people use to collect ideas for their different projects and interests. People create and share collections (called "boards") of visual bookmarks (called "Pins") that they use to do things like plan trips and projects, organize events or save articles and recipes. There is also a like feature to save certain pins that may not fit with a board. The site was founded by Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra and Evan Sharp. It is managed by Cold Brew Labs and funded by a small group of entrepreneurs and investors.

Pinterest is an addictive, unique concept for sharing images or articles from around the web. In some respects, it appears to be a more grown-up version of Tumblr, without the excessive amount of teenage fans enthusing about their latest celebrity crush.Having the ability to create an online image board that you can constantly edit and update is really amazing. For anyone with a design background it can be a very helpful tool and I love having the ability to share pins with friends.

I'm late to the Pinterest game, and honestly thought the concept was so dumb when I first heard it: "It's a bulletin board for the internet." Pffft. K.

Now, I'm pretty obsessed. From finding new recipes, to learning new life hacks, to reading up on DIY home renovations and decorations, this thing is actually pretty damn rad.

Be warned: It's a HUGE time suck. You'll find an hour has gone by and all you've done is pin organized linen closets.

This website has many functions, but more than anything, is a constant reminder that I will never have enough money to have the things I want.

Somewhere among 1950s housewife domesticity, frat boy humor GIFs, and 400 million wedding albums (all curated by women who are not even in relationships, much less engaged to be married) there is a pleasant place called Pinterest.
Lose yourself for hours looking at hair styles, colors, highlights, and bangs or sexy pinup photos that you wish you could emulate for your nonexistent boyfriend.
The endless barrage of "hang in there" and "God loves me" inspirational memes add filler to scroll down your feed and find the much more interestingly juicy things like bitchy eCards.
Workout/Get Fit boards are even more useless than the inspirational quotes but at least there are always sexy half naked men boards like "Let's Hear It For the Boys"...
Oh yeah...
You have to name your boards something punny or interesting or else you lose at Pinterest. Enjoy!

As a frequent pinterest user, and single gal about town... I have a great queso dip board, and a board of just eyeballs. CAUSE THAT'S WHAT IM INTO. I'm not big on the pinning wedding dresses much or the cute love quotes. But all that being said, it would be cool if pinterest would market a little more towards men or just push to have interesting board ideas that are a little less... marital driven? Is that fair to say? Am I being sexist here, I don't know, I love pinterest. For single and happy men and women alike, the further down you spiral into pinterest, it will ALWAYS lead you back to wedding dresses and female inspired inspirational quotes. Use at your own discretion.

I love pinterest! I use it for almost everything; cooking, baking, hair styles, hair colors, decoration, traveling, etc... Best user submitted content ever.

Pinterest is an addictive, unique concept for sharing images or articles from around the web. In some respects, it appears to be a more grown-up version of Tumblr, without the excessive amount of teenage fans enthusing about their latest celebrity crush and featuring content directed more towards the home, food, style and family life.

It’s easy to find people to follow, or even just pins based on your interests using the search function. Users can create boards (either public or secret) dedicated to anything they wish, with the option to invite friends to pin to the board, making group ideas or projects a breeze. As of August 2014, the site also features a browser-based messaging system, similar to Facebook chat, allowing you to discuss your pins or projects with your followers.

It's easy to develop a love/hate relationship with Pinterest. I can honestly say planning my wedding would have been much more difficult without but it is also a fantastic time waster. However I find it to be a much more intelligent alternative to stupid phone games like Candy Crush. Having the ability to create an online image board that you can constantly edit and update is really amazing. For anyone with a design background it can be a very helpful tool and I love having the ability to share pins with friends.

Oh how I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest! At first, I admit I was skeptical but once I was drawn in there was no turning back. I've often said Pinterest is like having my brain outside my body. There are so many different things to explore and share. I have pins for everything from foods that I want to try to toys that I had in my childhood.

It is a huge waste of time if you let it become that way. However, if you use it to plan and organize your thoughts then it can be a very valuable tool. I like having access to so much information and being able to organize it into neat little sections. I also like that I can have a little peek into the thought processes of my friends by seeing their pins. This also comes in handy when you need to choose a gift for someone because you can definitely see what they like by checking out their Pinterest.

Okay, this website is one of my absolute favorites!! The layout is so appealing and the whole concept is fabulous. I discover so many new things whenever I visit it. I also have a app downloaded for it! I don't really maintain my profile, but I do follow many people and pages!

Strange decision to use Comic Sans as the font for the titles of the website headings.

I could not find a way to navigate away from the homepage to any deeper links with more information. One would expect that the left skyscraper section would be hotlinked to more examples.
