Reference , Search Engines

Wolfram Alpha (also styled WolframAlpha and Wolfram|Alpha) is a computational knowledge engine or answer engine developed by Wolfram Research. It is an online service that answers factual queries directly by computing the answer from externally sourced "curated data", rather than providing a list of documents or web pages that might contain the answer as a search engine might.

Wolfram Alpha, which was released on May 15, 2009, is based on Wolfram's earlier flagship product Mathematica, a computational platform or toolkit that encompasses computer algebra, symbolic and numerical computation, visualization, and statistics capabilities. Additional data is gathered from both academic and commercial websites such as the CIA's World Factbook, the United States Geological Survey, a Cornell University Library publication called All About Birds, Chambers Biographical Dictionary, Dow Jones, the Catalogue of Life, CrunchBase, Best Buy, the FAA and optionally a user's Facebook account.

Wolfram Alpha is a wonderful resource for students everywhere. I generally use it for math problems, but you can use it to learn about a lot of other things as well - seriously, there's way too many things to list, from socioeconomic data to finances to fine art. Unfortunately for college students living on campus (or anyone else with bad WiFi), it's hard to use with weak internet connection and usually takes several tries to load since it has so many interactive features. You can change the background color if you want to; you can use it to generate math problems to practice for a test (you have to pay for that, though); you can input images and then analyze/process them (again, requires Pro, which you have to pay for). There are still lots of functions available for free users, though, and it's helped me many times on math homework that I couldn't figure out. It's a very underrated search engine that more people need to know about and utilize.

Ticketvibe is dishonest in their advertising for events, they will rip you off. Their site is also not very good, it's cluttered and difficult to navigate at times.

A pretty busy homepage with a lot of content on it but with nicely designed top navigation. The footer is similarly well-designed and leads the user to not be overwhelmed despite the great amount of content present on the site.

I would consider reducing the amount of options on the...

A very minimal landing page which looks a little too simple to inspire confidence and trust in the user.

The top links when they do work, remove the header links and do not allow the user to navigate back to the home page without refreshing. The About, Press, and Privacy links all...

Generally, a good looking site but is a little overwhelming with the sheer amount of content on it.

The landing image itself with its great number of content is a little overwhelming to the eye and this experience only increases as one scrolls down further down the page.
