Chaosium, (kay-OSS-ee-yum) is a California corporation known for publishing high quality books and games, and for having a well-developed sense of fun.

In 1975 the company was founded as The Chaosium by Greg Stafford, visionary game designer and creator of the world of Glorantha and the Pendragon roleplaying game, among others. In 1980 it was incorporated as Chaosium Inc. Chaosium thrives in the mild climate, gorgeous surroundings, and gentle earthquakes of the San Francisco Bay area.

Our main office is in Hayward, located about half-way between San Francisco and San Jose. A short walk away is a very good micro-brewery (and one of the oldest!) and Charlie Krank’s home. Charlie is our president and resident BBQ expert.

Most of Chaosium's product lines are based upon literary sources. H.P. Lovecraft's 1920's horror fiction provides the basis of the classic Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game line which has won so many awards that the we have lost count, though we do know that there are more than 80 of them. Mr. Lovecraft also provides the inspiration for many of the books in our Chaosium Fiction line. We also publish Basic Roleplaying, the core of our roleplaying game systems, Magic World, and hundreds of game supplements, both in print and downloadable formats.

In 2015, Chaosium celebrates our 40th anniversary and in 2016, Call of Cthulhu its 35th!

I heartily agree with the reviews on this podcast series left so far by other listeners. I've not yet listened to Mike Duncan's History of Rome podcast (though I'm now inspired to do so), but the History of Byzantium podcast is a tour de force from Robin. He has done a sterling and balanced job...

I have found the History of English podcast absolutely riveting; in fact, I 'binged- listened' my way through the first 100 or so episodes, and am very relieved that there are clearly many more to come :-). History via etymology - a great concept, well-delivered by Kevin. Highly recommended.

It's so amazing that we have the opportunity to listen to so many years of history is such a fine detail. It's a marvel of the modern world. Thanks for doing this, Robin!
