I use this site to look up words I don't know and use them improperly in front of my coworkers who think I'm a sociopath.

Define: euthanasia.

Can you use it in a sentence?

I wouldn't.

Why doesn't anybody sit next to me at lunch?

I use this site mostly for its thesaurus, which, I have to say, is kind of terrible. There are words out there that I know exist that are more exciting and colorful than the hyperbolic tripe that comes to mind, but are they on Dictionary.com? Do they dance from this website like sparkling beacons of literary comfort, encouragement and inspiration?

Usually not. Sigh...

As a writer, I'm often looking to enhance my copy with interesting words or find a different way to state my point.

This dictionary, along with the thesaurus feature are invaluable for such purposes. I even have the app on my iPhone, which offers a 'word of the day' notification that's great for expanding your vocabulary.

The site also features fun facts, quizzes and trending words - all great fun for literary junkies. I completely recommend it to anyone with an interest in the English language.

Dictionary.com has a quiz to test my vocabulary aka you want to judge how smart I am? Are you trolling me? Facebook does quizzes. You're better than that. Come on!

But thank you for teaching me new words though. My current favorite is: azoospermia. I use it all the time.

One of the better dictionary services on the internet. However, I wish it was available offline too.

Ok. I can't really say enough about Yelp being an internet bully especially when it comes to smaller businesses. I understand that you have to keep a site moving by having advertisements and what not. But when it comes to small business owners wanting control over their own yelp page and web pr...

Such a fantastic podcast!
Duncan has a knack for narrative history, taking all the disparate stories and facts and weaving it all together into a story that's fun and engaging.
It's also very well researched.
Would highly recommend to anyone with an interest in history.

I think the site looks dull now. I hope it evolves into more modern design. And also consider user experience.

I heartily agree with the reviews on this podcast series left so far by other listeners. I've not yet listened to Mike Duncan's History of Rome podcast (though I'm now inspired to do so), but the History of Byzantium podcast is a tour de force from Robin. He has done a sterling and balanced job...

I have found the History of English podcast absolutely riveting; in fact, I 'binged- listened' my way through the first 100 or so episodes, and am very relieved that there are clearly many more to come :-). History via etymology - a great concept, well-delivered by Kevin. Highly recommended.
