MyFitnessPal is a free smartphone app and website that tracks diet and exercise to determine optimal nutrients and caloric intake for the users' goals. In a Consumer Reports diet rating, MyFitnessPal was rated the best free program (with 83 points) in overall satisfaction, "maintenance, calorie awareness, and food variety".

The user may enter the name of the food or scan the barcode to find the item in a large database of over 3 million foods or may select foods from a list of most frequently eaten foods. Dietitian Michelle Eckhart says a bonus for dieters using such tools is that "numbers don't lie, and I think when people can really see the reality - the numbers - it helps them to adjust their behaviors more quickly." The same food item may contain several variation of the caloric count possibly depending on which country the food item was purchased.

MyFitnessPal has different exercises and sometimes the same exercise at different intensities or speeds. The user enters the number of minutes spent exercising and the calories spent is calculated. The calories spent on the exercise is added to the total number of calories that the user should eat per day.

MyFitness Pal is great in that you can track the nutritional value of food down to the amount of protein and fiber it contains. You can also track how many calories your burn from various exercises.

The downsides:
-The food is all put in from users, so the calories are all over the place.
-Apparently strength training burns no calories. WTF?!
-The online community is just awful. Thousands of uninformed people sharing fitness and diet advice they learned from pinterest, spouting horrifically unhealthy practices. Myfitness Pal can't help what people share, but jeeze, these people are morons.

All in all, I think it's helpful for people who are starting to get healthy, and to help them stay on track.

Do not like. I do not like you.

It takes forever to log my food and exercises. Speaking of exercise, you don't think the lifting weights burns calories? You lost your credibility.

Useless. Useless.

And it isn't easy to navigate. So I'll go use LoseIt! or something that is more intuitive than this site.

As an Englishman I find the content not just incredibly interesting but also very fulfilling as I learn the historical origins of the words, grammar and syntax that I use - almost without thinking - every day. It's given me a real insight into my own culture and the way that I communicate with ot...

Love the History of English podcast and its website. The maps are great and the audio samples, like the Gregorian chants or "Sumer Is Icumen In" add so much to an already terrific podcast.

I also bought from the website the Beowulf audiobook, which was terrific, and my husband boug...

Very much enjoy The History of Byzantium podcast and website. I like the maps on the site and the ability to buy special episodes from the site.

I wish there was an easier way to get to specific episodes, or at least specific maps. Still, the site is so much better than many simil...

too many spam sites and broken links displayed, they need to clean up the search results other than traffic-related sites displayed on the first page. how about they request additional info at the search text entry.
