Steam offers an outstanding product.
purchase and installation and uninstall is easy, and there are tons of great games to pickup.

but the part that is most amazing to me is the long term nature of the site. for instance:
1) game licenses are connected to your account, not your computer. so you can buy a new computer and lose nothing
2) it was very easy to change personal info like email addresses (I've had my account for so long that it outlasted one of my emails)
3) games from my childhood are present with no need for an emulator

The value available on the site is very high. A must for any video gamer.

What happens when you provide high quality content combined with a click-based monetization?

Click-bait mecca.

There is no doubt that the site is funny and occasionally thought provoking.

But the articles are intentionally split up so that you have to read the first third, click to the middle third, and then to the final third (or in some cases, 30 or more clicks to consume all the content in a single list).

Not only that, but the pages are COVERED in ads.

The UI is annoying to the point of making you wonder: "is this good content really worth it?"

I use a chrome extension to cobble together the articles into a single page, but even then it is wearying to see so many ads.

Content-wise, the best articles are typically well sourced, interesting and funny. However, it does have more than the occasional accuracy problems. When anyone can make and submit an article for money, accuracy and calmness will not rise to the top consistently.

It is the sort of site that makes you think "If I visit this site more often, it just encourages the fuckers".

It has all the information you need.
But is frequently less clear than you'd like, and it is arranged so that you have to do a LOT of scrolling.

For instance, if you want to know where to find a pokemon, or when it gets what moves, you have to scroll almost to the bottom of a very long page.

It's still the best site available, but since it is comprehensive, it overloads you.

This site!

It's hard not to rave about it, and it's hard not to use it every time you travel!

You might only save a little money, but the quality of accommodations over normal hotels goes WAY up. Staying in other people's houses is so much more comfortable.

You have potential for more space, more rooms, and often get some surprise amenities. I've stayed at houses so nice that the people I was out of state to visit came to me, instead of me going to them!

The flexibility and comfort offered by connecting normal people together is just delightful.

Give it a try the next time you travel!

This site will make you long for Lynda functionality on every video you watch online on other sites.

It is powerful and useful.

Every Lynda video has a full transcript for search-ability. And if you click on a word in the transcript, the video jumps to that point.

Furthermore, each lesson is broken up into bite-size modules perfect for quick learning sessions.

Then Lynda remembers where you are without needing to save your place and you can rapidly start back up again.

For all the tasks you would love to be guided through, Lynda has lessons that will make you think "oh, this isn't that hard"

It does have an auto-renewing monthly subscription, but unlike some of the more painful subscription sites, it is quick and easy to unsubscribe.

This site handles 95% of my online bible searching.
It is intuitive and powerful. For just about anything short of specific Greek, Hebrew or Aramaic word analysis, this will handle your questions and searching needs.

(Aside: check out www.studylight.org for language analysis)

Any specific word or phrase can be searched, and then narrowed down with useful filters.

I teach sunday school for 4th graders and get extensive use in my prep-time and even in class on occasion. But it is also useful in my personal study.

I can't recommend it highly enough.

This is my favorite online retailer. I've spent well over a thousand dollars on the site, and it is NOT because they have great deals. In fact, you could often find better deals elsewhere. And they offer modest shipping times compared to other retailers. So why shop at cool stuff if it isn't the best deal or the fastest?

1) KILLER search function
It is unbelievable to me how powerful their search is for specific trading cards. When I'm building a "magic the gathering" deck, I often use their site to find applicable cards that might fit the theme because it is in many ways superior to the official Magic site.
You can find the cards in half the time, and then, of course, the prices and availability will be right there!

2) Customer Service
Given that I've bought maybe 1000+ individual items from large games to single cards, it is impressive how infrequently an order has had an error. But when it did happen, it was fixed quickly and professionally.

3) Better layout, more intuitive purchasing, and clearer UI than the alternatives.
When you pull up a specific card, the text is visible, and every possible edition is presented with a thumbnail picture. There is no need to go to a third party site to figure out which one you want.

4) price is "what you see is what you get"
I love how negligible prices are for shipping cards. no need to do mental math to figure out if it is worth it to you or not. $1 total for pretty much any number of singles is so sane that it it is surprising.

In short, the site is very enjoyable to use, include a silly little level-up features as you to get bigger and bigger discounts as you spend more money.

I've shopped at many places but I'll probably stay with cool stuff for 95% of the rest of my gaming purchases.

If you are a die-hard magic fan, there is no better resource for inside information.

Mark frequently answers north of 100 questions per day. This is incredible access to one of the most important game designers for the game.

He's got a great sense of humor, and a deep understanding of how creativity and game design works.

There are two areas of excellence in this podcast that make it very useful and enjoyable:

1) Explanation of the Subject
Islam contains a great amount of jargon, and yet the podcast is accessible to those who don't know the jargon, because it is introduced slowly and well defined. It is presented very well in a narrative style, but full of historical context to understand what is happening. It is wonderfully interesting and quite binge-able. There is a lot to be said for any history podcast that goes to this level of depth, but still offers this depth in bite-size segments.

2) Structure
Somehow, this is the ONLY podcast that I listen to that has the following structure:
A) very brief intro
B) next segment of the story
C) optional end notes that includes additional explanations, audience questions, and podcast administration.

EVERY podcast should be of this format. It boggles the mind that so many podcasts put long ads in all the strangest places. Or those that take forever to get started. It is clear that Elias is respecting our time.

There is a lot of good (for small amounts of money), with a very shady dark side (for large amounts)

The sudden ease of use that OTHER websites experience if you have a paypal account is a great advantage. The setup can be annoying, but this pales in comparison to the benefit in making small online purchases.

Just be careful if you use it for LARGE amounts of money. If a lot of money will be coming in, it trips a lot of red flags.

Since Paypal isn't a real bank, they don't answer to the FDIC...or anyone.

They can lock your account without warning, and it will be up to you to prove your innocence. And they can make it impossible for you to do so.

Ticketvibe is dishonest in their advertising for events, they will rip you off. Their site is also not very good, it's cluttered and difficult to navigate at times.

Generally, a good looking site but is a little overwhelming with the sheer amount of content on it.

The landing image itself with its great number of content is a little overwhelming to the eye and this experience only increases as one scrolls down further down the page.
